Scariest Things

Pimples on noses and judges with pet peeves,
People with tattoos who never wear long sleeves,
Indictments with seals in redropes tied with strings,
These are a few of my scariest things.

Certified letters and crippling crashes,
Doorbells and cops’ yells and terrorists’ sashes,
Nursing home corridors stretched into wings,
These are a few of my scariest things.

Girls in white dresses with strawberry knishes,
Raindrops with acid that kill all the fishes,
Silver white winters that melt into springs,
These are a few of my scariest things.

When the dog bites,
When the bee stings,
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my scariest things
And then I don’t feel so bad.
